BOONE, N.C. – App State suffered a 7-1 setback to Pitt on Sunday afternoon at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
App State falls to 0-2 while Pitt moves to 2-0 on the season.
Lindsey Poff highlighted the setback with her first-career goal in the second half of the contest as she rebounded a Tess Cairney penalty kick in the 76th minute. Cairney tallied her first assist of the season.
The Panthers struck first in the first 13 minutes of the contest before scoring three more times to go into the break with a 4-0 lead. Pitt tacked on three goals in the second period. Anna Rico led the visitors with a pair of goals while five other student-athletes found the net.
