Ed Gainey’s Hamilton Tigercats were the only team playing last night with former Mountaineers, but this Mountie didn’t record any stats.  Carolina Panthers fans may find it interesting that Tiquan Underwood is now playing for Hamilton and recorded 3 catches for 93 yards in the 26-23 loss.  Here is the box score:

The action heats up a little more on Friday as the Panthers and Patriots face off in a rematch of the Panthers only trip to the Super Bowl (sorry, had to say it), and Wayne Smith’s Toronto Argonauts play at 9 pm.

Here is a game preview for the Argos contest:

For NFL players, the first big round of cuts have to be in by Tuesday at 4 pm when teams need to be down to 75 men on the roster, so this weekend may be the last chance for some players to showcase their skills.

As far as the battle of the P’s goes, we will have one player to follow, and that will be Travaris Cadet.

Unfortunately, De’Andre Presley is back on the Pup List.

Here is a game preview from

Since he hasn’t had a chance to play in any preseason games yet, Cadet is deep on the depth chart at rb for the Patriots who would use him as a pass catching back.  Here is their current depth chart:

Hopefully Cadet can begin to prove himself in New England beginning tonight.

Saturday will be a much bigger day, even including an Arena Bowl to follow.  5 former Mountaineers will line-up in the NFL tomorrow night, and Julian Rauch will be kicking for a shot at his league title for the Jacksonville Sharks of the Arena League.

The Sharks take on San Jose Sabercats at 7 pm on ESPN.

Here is a game preview:

The Jacksonville Jaguars kick off against the Detroit Lions at 8pm on Saturday, and this could be a fun one for Mountaineer Nation.  With Jacksonville’s addition of Will Corbin this week, we could get to see as many as 4 former Boone ball players at the Jag’s EverBank Field.  Will Corbin has his second chance to play guard at the NFL level (he was released by Indy just before camp started).  Look for #79 on the field.

Stacking up good performances is what the Jags coaches are looking for in preseason game 3:

Here is the depth chart Corbin will be trying to climb onto:

Tony Washington, #84, is still deep on the WR depth chart and will need to continue to make an impression.

ESPN called Demetrius McCray’s injury last week a knee contusion, and says they are hoping he will be back for the first regular season game.

Sam Martin and Andrew Peacock (#1) will be lining up on the other side of the field.

Here is Peacock discussing training before OTA’s.

I found this old video of comedian David Arquette expressing his confidence in Sam Martin from about a year ago.–were-winning-the-super-bowl-next-year–518082379

Brian Quick will be making his return to game action from his severe shoulder injury at 8 pm.  Rams fans are expecting a lot from their #1 receiver.–nfl.html;_ylt=A0LEVj4obd9VXOQAHwUPxQt.;_ylu=X3oDMTByMjB0aG5zBGNvbG8DYmYxBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzYw–

Sunday’s Mountaineer action begins in Canada at 3pm.  Both Mark Legree and Steven Miller should be lining up for the Roughriders.  Here is a preview of the game with the Redblacks.

Miller discussed overcoming adversity in his life in this interview.

Back in the NFL, Kendall Lamm’s Houston Texans play at 4 pm.

Here is a little bit from Hard Knocks episode 3:

And a look at the Texans depth chart:

The Cowboys play at 7.

An updated look at the Dallas depth chart shows Joel Ross #3 at RCB.

And the last App NFL player, Daniel Kilgore remains out for the 49ers.  They no longer expect him back before the season, but don’t expect his ankle clean-up to cause long-term problems for the team’s starting center.
