App State (3-3) secured the series win with a 7-5 win in the first game of the doubleheader on Sunday against the Spartans (1-4). The Spartans bounced back in game two, notching their first win of the season with a 9-5 victory over the Mountaineers.
Both teams were held scoreless until the fourth inning as the Spartans struck first in the bottom half. Three hits and a throwing error from Caylie Kifer gave UNCG the lead heading into the fifth.
