ESTERO, Fla. – Adrian Delph became the 35th player in program history to score 1,000 career points, but App State men’s basketball fell at the buzzer 65-63 to Vermont in its finale at the Gulf Coast Showcase on Wednesday.
Delph scored his milestone point at the 19:36 mark of the second half on a layup. He is now one of two players on the active roster to have 1,000 or more career points, joining Justin Forrest.
A free throw from Michael Almonacy with 9:18 to go gave App State (3-4) a 52-45 lead. Vermont (5-2) answered with a three on its next possession, but Forrest came right back with a 3-pointer of his own to put App State back up 55-48.
Leading 58-53 with 4:31 to go, the Catamounts went on a 6-0 run to take a 59-58…
