Freshmen Lead Final-Round Surge from Women’s Golf

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. — With three sub-75 rounds, App State Women’s Golf added another entry to the sub-300 list with a team total of 299 in the final round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge fall tournament.
 
A pair of true freshmen led the way Tuesday to wrap up their collegiate debuts, as Mary-Sears Brown shot an even-par 71 that tied for the seventh-lowest round in a field of 100 golfers and classmate Layla Meric had a 73. Hannah Wang, who finished 33rd individually, closed with a 74 after leading the Mountaineers each of the first two days with scores of 73 and 75.
